Horizon Forbidden West PC Features and System Requirements Revealed

Horizon Forbidden West

After two years of PS5 exclusivity, Horizon: Forbidden West is finally coming to PC later this month. Guerrilla Games and PC porting house Nixxes Software have released the system requirement specifications for the game, and yes, you’ll need a pretty powerful system to get a good experience.

Horizon Forbidden West PC System Requirements

For those looking to play the game on older PCs, you’ll need an Nvidia GTX 1650 or an AMD Radeon RX 5500XT at the very least. It’s not that bad for a PC game, except that those cards are recommended for playing it at 720p. And you’ll be stuck at 30fps. Considering the game was designed for and ran on a PS4 with a similar performance/resolution target, the PC version does look like it’s much heavier.

Here are the minimum system requirements to play Forbidden West:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit (version 1909 or higher)

  • CPU: Intel Core i3-8100 or AMD Ryzen 3 1300X

  • RAM: 16GB

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4GB or AMD Radeon RX 5500XT 4GB

  • Storage: SSD with 150GB available space

  • Expected Performance: 720p, 30fps

Forbidden West doesn’t include any ray tracing features, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t need a beefy GPU to play it properly. For those with 1080p monitors, an RTX 3060 or an AMD Radeon RX 5700 will be required, which is considerably higher than most modern PC games. Those wanting to play at 1440p or 4K will need something better than an RTX 3070 paired with an 8-core processor. Here are the recommended system requirements to play it at 1440p:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit (version 1909 or higher)

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-9700 or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 or AMD Radeon RX 6800

  • Storage: SSD with 150GB available space

  • Expected Performance: 1440p at 60fps or 4K at 30fps

The settings menu will include options to tweak parameters like textures, level of detail, shadows, water, terrain, and more. The PC version will also include a FoV slider and toggles for post-processing effects. Beyond these, other PC-exclusive features like Nvidia DLSS, AMD's FSR, Intel's XeSS, and ultra-wide monitor support will also be included.

As announced earlier, the Complete Edition of the game will include the following content:

  • Horizon Forbidden West full-game

  • Burning Shores DLC expansion

  • Carja Behemoth Elite Outfit & Short Bow

  • Nora Thunder Elite Outfit & Bow

  • Photo Mode unlocks
