Sony finally announces Horizon Forbidden West PC release date

After months of rumors and leaks, Sony and Guerrilla Games finally announced the Horizon Forbidden West PC port, and the open-world series can’t catch a break. It’s a running joke that Aloy’s adventures launch, without fail, around the same time as other highly anticipated games – Zero Dawn and Breath of the Wild, for example, then Forbidden West’s PS5 release at the same time as Elden Ring.

Horizon Forbidden West on PC launches on March 21, 2024, a day before Dragon’s Dogma 2 and around the same time as Rise of the Ronin and Princess Peach Showtime.

The PC version is Forbidden West Complete Edition, which includes all patches released since the game first launched and the excellent Burning Shores DLC. It’ll cost $59.99, and Sony is offering several pre-order bonuses, including a range of outfits and weapon skins.

Unlike some pre-order bonuses, these aren’t just cosmetics. Some outfits and weapons have unique modifiers for Aloy’s stats – nothing massive, though, so you’re not missing out if you don’t pre-order.

Forbidden West on PC includes uncapped framerates and support for AMD FSR and Nvidia DLSS 3, along with DualSense support for all those lovely vibrations. If you prefer mouse and keyboard, though, you can use those too.

Sony didn’t say whether Forbidden West will launch as a Steam Deck verified game. Zero Dawn still struggles to run on PC and Steam Deck years after launch, and after The Last of Us Part 1’s disastrous PC launch, it might be best not to expect full compatibility and smooth performance on day one.
