Hidden things in your home that may be a fire hazard

NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio (WJW) – Like volatile fireworks, it’s a shocking video of everyday items bursting into shooting flames.

Multiple real life “hidden fire hazards” that are inside of most homes and can cause extensive damage to life and property, as witnessed firsthand by firefighters, from improperly stored oily rags to ordinary lithium batteries in power tool chargers, cellphones and other devices.

“A lot of these hidden fires could’ve been prevented,” said Chief Robert Chagen, of the North Royalton Fire Department.

The Chief, Assistant Chief Tom Habak and members of the Southwest Emergency Response Team or S.E.R.T. conducted a demonstration for FOX 8 News to help educate the public and prevent more tragedies.

“This is what can happen when things go wrong,” said Asst Chief Habak.
