Heat forces Mad Hatter Tea Party indoors, but event was still a wonderland

Too hot? The annual Mad Hatter Tea Party went on with cupcakes served, flower pot decorating and curiouser and curiouser fun at the Mandel Recreation Center on April 20.

Organizers promised a whimsical wonderland of "enchanting festivities and delightful surprises," and did not disappoint even as the event was moved from the outdoor lawn to air-conditioned indoors as mid-morning temperatures rose into the mid-80s and the sunshine bore down.

Nonetheless, the scene was familiar with decorative serveware, tea sandwiches, indoor games and a visit from Alice in Wonderland herself.
