Handel’s churns up limited-time ice cream flavor
Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream has churned up a favor for May − carrot cake.
The new flavor joins the high-quality, made-from-scratch options created by founder Alice Handel in 1945.

Carrot Cake Ice Cream, available through May 30 while supplies last, features a carrot cake base with cinnamon, nutmeg, bits of raisins and a cream cheese ripple to be enjoyed by the scoop or the pint.

Fromage du Monde sets chef event series
Fromage du Monde, 340 4th St. NW in Canton, kicks off summer with its Chef’s Summer Series that begins at 6 p.m. May 24.
Resident chef, co-owner and shop husband Rodney Hunt will present a five-course dinner with cocktails and house wines, taking participants on a culinary journey with themed offerings and seasonal selections. The menu will include poached pear topped with warm goat cheese drizzled with Zinfandel syrup; tenderloin of beef or Bay of Fundy salmon wellington (choice) with accompaniments; and crepe suzette flambé Grand Marnier with bourbon glazed cherries.
Hunt has always been involved in preparing Fromage du Monde’s house-made soups and menu development but will be expanding into lunch specials and dinner events at the downtown Canton location.
