Great Outfits in Fashion History: Devon Aoki's 2003 Roberto Cavalli Mini Dress

My day-long "America's Next Top Model" binges may happen less frequent they used to, but my obsession with reminiscing on top models from the early 2000s remains. So it should come as no surprise that within my mental bank of favorite Y2K models, Devon Aoki is unquestionably ranked among the top.

Her stardom went beyond the major runway moments and muse relationship with Karl Lagerfeld: She also served up a wealth of street-style and red-carpet looks that defined the cool-girl aesthetic of her era. A few months after wrapping up filming for her big-screen debut in "2 Fast 2 Furious," Aoki put her modeling cap back on and attended the 2003 Lancôme Resolution skin-care launch party in Paris.

All cameras were on her as she appeared in a nude Roberto Cavalli mini dress with an asymmetrical hemline and subtle botanical lace pattern. Aoki complemented her dress via gold-colored accessories, including a clutch and open-toe strappy heels. She also stuck to a minimal makeup look, with a glossy plum-colored lip as the focal point, a faint flush on the cheeks and dramatically long, elegantly disheveled curls.
