Grain Silo Converted Into Stunning, Rustic-Modern, Open Floor Plan Home

Adaptive reuse is a great way to breathe life into existing buildings or structures by turning them into living spaces. Not to mention, it's a sustainable, eco-friendly alternative to demolition and new construction. And who wouldn't want to live in a converted fire station, school, or—in the case of a viral Zillow listing—fully rehabbed grain silo?

The 2,000 square-foot, 10-acre Missouri property turned up on the popular Zillow Gone Wild social media accounts on Tuesday.

"It’s no potato shed but a grain silo comes a close second!!!" the account posted, apparently referring to a previous listing. "This former grain silo is in Benton, MO and is currently listed for ONLY (??) $499,900 on 10 acres, which means there is a lot of room to put a potato shed too if you want!!"

The interior of the home is a perfect mashup of modern and rustic, with a chic, open floor plan, drawing in elements of the silo's steel exterior, as well as farmhouse touches throughout. A mezzanine area overlooking the first floor even has a railing constructed out of pipes.

Additional photos show the home's bright and airy kitchen, with all the modern conveniences and a walk-in pantry. One of the home's two bathroom likewise repurposes an old wooden barrel as a sink pedestal.

The mezzanine also features a built-in wooden bar, perfect for entertaining, and a second bathroom boasts an open-concept shower with soaking tub, perfect for soaking after a long day on the farm.

According to the Zillow listing, the property likewise features heated floors, a detached shop, covered parking, a stocked fish pond, hot tub, and even a highway billboard for the new owner to earn some extra dough on the side. But at just under a half-million, Zillow estimates that the property is likely to sell faster than 99 percent of home nearby, so it shouldn't long to find a lucky owner.
