This "Gorgeous" Table Lamp Is the Investment Piece I'm Keeping Forever

I spend the majority of my time at home in my living room, so it’s always important that I find ways to improve my lighting, especially since I work there throughout the day. That said, I’m all about form and function. So I’m always looking for lamps that are both bright and beautiful.

Recently, I came across a stunning oversized lamp while browsing Ballard Designs’ website, and I knew I had to order it for my living room side table. With a base that’s over 20 inches in height alone, this lamp is definitely a sizable statement. I love how the ceramic base, which is based on a pot from designer Suzanne Kasler’s own collection, and rattan shade pair together to create a stylish accent while adding plenty of texture and warmth to my space. But you could opt for the white linen shade if you’re looking for something even more neutral.

For me, the base is what’s most special about the lamp. The matte white finish is hand-applied and complements all kinds of interior design styles, from coastal grandmother to Scandi chic. No matter how my design style may change, I feel as though I’ll truly be able to use this piece forever.

Right now, I love seeing this lamp on my table every time I walk into my living room. The concentrated task light it throws around the space is great for reading and working on my laptop but still atmospheric enough for hosting or watching TV. I haven’t put mine on a dimmer yet, but it’s dimmer compatible, too.

Thanks to its generous size, I could also see this lamp looking fabulous on a credenza or oversized entryway table in a large foyer, when I maybe live in a bigger home someday. I’d even consider moving it to my bedroom right now. It’s a bit too grandiose for my nightstands at the moment, but I think it could work bedside in a larger room or on a dresser. That’s where one reviewer has put theirs, and they call the piece “fantastic” and “gorgeous” in that spot.

Not in the market for a new base and shade? You can shop these pieces separately. The base can pair with any type of shade, maybe even one you already have. Meanwhile, the rattan shade I selected is a gorgeous accent that can even be hung as a pendant light over a dining room table, as reviewer photos show. The possibilities with the two separates are endless!

I ordered this lamp a few months ago, and it arrived in just a matter of days and was easy to set up in minutes. I was lucky enough to take advantage of a site-wide Ballard sale when placing my order, because at $379, the lamp is an investment. Right now, though, you can snag the base for $261 and this exact pairing for $341. So now’s the time to order. Keep your eyes peeled for additional sales with Memorial Day coming up as well; I’ve seen the lamp and shade drop to as low as $300 together. I’m using and enjoying this lamp so much, I only wish I had bought it sooner!
