Giada De Laurentiis Broke this Major Kitchen Decor “Rule” (It’s So Pretty!)
Although celebrity chefs offer peeks inside their kitchens from time to time on Instagram and TikTok, it’s rare that fans really get to see the inner workings of the space, like the kitchen pantry. But Giada De Laurentiis recently shared a look into how she organizes and stores all of her pantry must-haves, and as expected, her pantry is just beautiful. And that’s in part because she designed it to match the rest of her kitchen — including her backsplash.
You can see in a recent TikTok video De Laurentiis posted to her account on April 5 that her pantry features the same marble backsplash and countertop she installed behind her stove and kitchen sink, and it goes from counter to ceiling.
She also painted the adjustable pantry shelves in the same creamy white as her kitchen cabinets to keep the cohesiveness throughout, and the backlash matches her kitchen island countertops too.
From what you can see in the video, De Laurentiis’ pantry appears to be all open shelving with some open drawers on the bottom for storing canned goods and easy-to-grab items. Each shelf has built-in overhead lighting to help her see exactly what she has (and ID what she’s out of) and the shelves are deep enough to store small appliances, like her KitchenAid stand mixer.
Putting marble backsplash and countertops in a pantry is such a clever idea for making both spaces feel connected. And I love that De Laurentiis breaks with current design rules by keeping things in her kitchen matching rather than going for a more collected look.
Her space looks curated, and the use of light colors feels timeless and airy. Since it’s so essential to her work, I can definitely see how having such a light and bright kitchen that flows so smoothly works to foster her creativity.
If you want the countertops in your kitchen pantry (which, if you have an older home, are sometimes built as their own set spaces) to look more fluid with the rest of your kitchen, you could go for this look by trying marble contact paper. And you’d also probably keep costs down by doing so, too. But if you were planning a kitchen renovation, you might want to consider copying this entire look.
