George Lucas Tops Celebrity Rich List With $5.5 Billion Fortune

The creator of Star Wars is now the wealthiest celebrity on the planet.

George Lucas, who sold his sci-fi mega-franchise to Disney in 2012 for $4 billion, topped Forbes list of 2024’s richest billionaires with a staggering net worth of $5.5 billion.

That puts him above every other celebrity on the planet, including Kim Kardashian, Taylor Swift, and Kanye West.

Second on Forbes’ list is Steven Spielberg, with a net worth of $4.8 billion. Michael Jordan, meanwhile, comes third with $3.2 billion.

Lucas made a number of smart business decisions with his Star Wars brand, one of which being his call to earn a cut of all merchandising from 1977’s first film, Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

While he hasn’t directed a Star Wars movie since 2005’s Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, his name remains synonymous with the franchise.
