Gentle Giant French Mastiff Wakes Up To Treat With Such Grace

Do you remember the 1980s movie Turner & Hooch, starring Tom Hanks as Scott Turner and a French mastiff named Hooch? If you know, you know. French mastiffs, or as the French would call them, Dogue de Bordeaux, are known for their calm and gentle demeanor, despite their imposing size.
As we can see in this video, posted on October 10 by the owner of the French mastiff Edna, these breeds are indeed just gentle giants.

Aw, look at her! She doesn't even devour the treat in one sitting, as many other dog breeds would.
And then she goes back to sleep!
In case you aren't familiar with the Dogue de Bordeaux, this breed of dog is naturally well-mannered and can be quite patient when it comes to receiving treats or attention. They may sit or lie down quietly, eagerly but politely accepting the treat from their owner's hand.
I mean, my senior pit bull is also gentle when receiving a treat, but he would eat the whole thing in one bite, not like Edna, who eats it so gracefully.
And if you watched the movie Turner & Hooch, you'd know that French mastiffs are incredibly loyal dogs. They form strong bonds with their families, which makes them excellent family pets and guard dogs.

Despite their imposing size and protective instincts, French mastiffs are typically gentle giants and affectionate with their family members. They are known for their good-natured and loving demeanor as well as their calm and relaxed disposition, making them great companions well-suited to living in a variety of environments, including apartments, as long as they receive enough exercise and mental stimulation.
But don't get it twisted; French mastiffs have strong protective instincts. They are often wary of strangers and will act as excellent guard dogs.
However, proper socialization from a young age is essential to ensure that their protective behavior remains balanced and not overly aggressive.
