Gentle Barn Sanctuary Announces Name of Their Brand New Baby Turkey

There are so many different ways to measure emotional intelligence in humans, but it's not so easy for people to understand what makes an animal in tune with human feelings. Many dog owners feel like their furry friends understand when they're feeling upset, but many other species form deep connections, too. But would you have guessed that turkeys are on the list?

It's true! Turkeys are intelligent birds that form and understand social hierarchy, emotions, and even geography. Wild turkeys are especially smart because they rely on these skills to survive, but even domesticated turkey species are capable of forming friendships and understanding other's feelings. Knowing this makes every turkey TikTok video I see so much sweeter!

I was smiling from ear to ear while watching @thegentlebarn's October 7 video introducing their rescue turkey's brand new baby. They even gave her a name, and it couldn't be cuter!

Welcome to the world, Stella! This is such an exciting time for everyone at The Gentle Barn, and I couldn't be happier to witness it. I also can't believe how tiny the baby turkey is!

"They way mom lifts her wing for a snuggle," was one commenter's favorite detail.  I'll admit that my eyes were getting misty by that point in the video! This mama bird and her chick are already so closely bonded, and it's simply beautiful to see. Besides, it's fun to hear about rescued farm animals in addition to the amazing rescue pets around the world.

This heartwarming introduction from the farm animal sanctuary may be adorable, but it's also a great reminder of the safety and love every animal deserves to have. Thank you to all of the animal rescues that make happy stories like this possible!
