Gardenfest to be held at Amarillo Botanical Gardens

The Amarillo Botanical Gardens (ABG) invites the community to its annual Gardenfest event, to be held Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the gardens, located at 1400 Streit Drive.

The event is expecting as many as 1,000 guests and will include more than 30 vendor booths selling a variety of plants, materials and services. The event will include a crowd-favorite geranium sales, food trucks, educational programs and more.

"There will be many local vendors selling soaps and jewelry plants and more. We will have food trucks selling barbeque, a barnyard petting zoo. ... It will be a good day to just shop, enjoy the gardens, get some plants, eat some food, and just have fun outdoors in the beautiful gardens," ABG Horticulturist/Operations Manager Greg Lusk said.

Lusk said that the event is a great spring event for people to go get inspiration for their gardens, now that spring is beginning to roll into the Texas Panhandle, as well as allow an opportunity for all to enjoy a fun day in nature.

"Anyone attending can definitely get gardening design and plant ideas. If we can grow it at the gardens, they can grow it at their home. I am also always open to answering any gardening or plant related questions," Lusk added.

Lusk said that over the years, Gardenfest has grown, and this year it has added more shopping opportunities. In the future, Lusk said he hopes to include live music and more family fun activities.

The funds raised through Gardenfest will benefit the gardens to continue its mission to educate and maintain upkeep of the gardens.
