Founder of Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q inducted into Barbeque Hall of Fame

May 24—The late Bob Gibson, founder of Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q, was named this week as one of three 2024 legacy inductees in the American Royal Association's Barbeque Hall of Fame. He is being recognized alongside four living Hall of Fame inductees.

Gibson "is credited with helping craft the strong barbecue landscape in Alabama, and the creation of his own pit barbecue technique," according to the association. "Gibson also developed Alabama White Sauce, which is on restaurant menus and store shelves all over the world. His restaurant, Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q, is in the Alabama BBQ Hall of Fame, and his barbecue team received 18 world championships in various meat categories."

The inductees will be recognized at the 44th American Royal World Series of Barbeque in Kansas City on Oct 30 to Nov 3. — trenedy.parks@decaturdaily.com
