Former Farm Cat Looks For a Relaxing Home After Receiving Medical Treatment at the Shelter

To some, cats seem like finicky furry friends who don't do much besides lounging around and batting things off the counter. But those people have usually only seen cats in movies! Cat owners know that felines can have unique personalities and interests, though, and some even find 'jobs' such as catching rodents and guarding gardens.

Barn cats are also quite common in rural areas like central Minnesota, where Gloria is looking for her forever home. Gloria is a former farm cat who's at least ten years old, and she's looking for a new, indoor home after receiving medical treatment at the Tri-County Humane Society. This old lady may not be built for farm life anymore, but she has plenty of love left to give. Check her out in this precious March 3 video from the shelter:

Aww! Gloria is such a beautiful kitty, and she seems so eager to interact with animal shelter volunteers. Her forever person is in for lots of head scratches and biscuit-making--that's for sure!

According to her online biography, this rescue cat came to the shelter "due to other cats on the property not liking her," so she is recommended to be the only cat in the home. Clearly, she has no problem being around humans! She enjoys being petted and will even drool a little when she's relaxed. As long as you don't pick her up, she'll be a happy camper.

Although Gloria was a barn cat for most of her life, she's going to be adopted as an indoor cat. It's time for her retirement! Despite her older age and resolved medical issues, it seems like she's beginning to thrive at @tricountyhumanesociety.

What is a Barn Cat?

As the name implies, barn cats (or farm cats) live out on the farm instead of in the home. They typically make themselves warm and comfy in the barn at night. They help out with farm chores by catching mice and rodents, too, though some prefer to just lounge around.

Although barn cats (and cats in general) can get a bad rap as anti-social creatures, Gloria is a great example of how loving these pets can be. Outdoor cats may see a lot more of the world than their indoor friends, but that doesn't mean they're any more 'tough' or mean.

Just look at her! Gloria seems comfortable, happy, and friendly following her medical treatment at the shelter. She's going to be a great low-energy friend for whoever adopts her! If you think you might be the right home for this senior cat, reach out to the Tri-County Humane Society to find out how to meet her.
