If you forget your phone charger, here’s the easiest hack for any hotel room

Everyone needs a charge.

Sometimes, traveling can be a nightmare, especially for Americans in European countries who may not have brought the right adapter to charge their phones with at their hotels.

However, a flight attendant has shared a quick and easy life hack to avoid bearing the feeling of anxiety that comes with having an uncharged phone while traveling.

A flight attendant shared an easy tip for travelers so they never have to go without charging their phone at a hotel if they don’t have a charging block. TikTok

“Use your USB cable and charge it in the TV,” flight attendant Esther Sturrus shared with her 223,000 TikTok followers in one of her most popular videos detailing six hotel hacks she uses while traveling.

Most modern TVs have built-in USB adapters, which will charge a phone, so there’s no need to run down to the lobby or store to pay for an overpriced charging block.

“This is extremely helpful if you forgot or lost your wall plug from your charger.”

This easy life hack should work at almost any modern hotel — not just internationally.

Some other helpful tips she shared in the video were using a clothes hanger to seal any gaps in the hotel room curtains to get the room completely dark.

The 22-year-old flight attendant also recommended wrapping the hotel room TV remote in a shower cap to avoid germs.

Sturrus also shared using the caps to cover shoes when packed away in the luggage.

She also cleverly shared that if a guest uses the hotel safe to store their valuables, putting a shoe with them will prevent almost anyone from forgetting to take their possessions.

Lastly, Sturrus recommended using any card other than the hotel key card to access the room, power on the lights, and use air conditioning if the hotel has that accommodation.

However, many of her video’s viewers shared that the card trick only really works now at “old European hotels.”

Sturrus’ video, which has racked up 1.2 million views, has received praise from followers over the simple hacks most may overlook while traveling.

“The hanger for the drapes is GENIUS,” one TikTok user wrote.

“Omg yes the tv remote, I hate touching those things,” another commented.

“Finally someone that knows what she is talking about,” said another.

It’s not uncommon for flight attendants to have some of the best travel advice since many may be away from home several nights per week, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Earlier this month, a Dallas-based flight attendant shared the “king” and “queen” behavior she loves to see from her passengers on her flights and even shared one move that might score a traveler a free drink.

Another Florida-based flight attendant also revealed a unique way she gets passengers to swap seats if a family with young children requested to sit together.

A United Airlines flight attendant also weighed in on the age-old debate that has plagued air travel since the early days of commercial flying: Who, in rows with three seats, is appropriately entitled to the two middle armrests from takeoff to touchdown?
