Following Record Snow Season, Deer Valley Announces Opening Day

After a record snow year, Deer Valley Resort, Utah, is gearing up to do it all over again.

Earlier this week, the resort shared that it will open this Saturday, December 2nd.

Here are all the juicy details.

Deer Valley will have seven lifts open on Saturday, including Snowflake, Carpenter Express, Silver Lake Express, Homestake Express, Viking, Wasatch Express, and Sterling Express.

It's an impressive opening day line-up, set to serve ten trails across the mountain. Sure, Deer Valley might be coming to the game a little late, but it's clear that good things come to those who wait, given how much terrain they'll have on tap come Saturday.

Per the resort's webcams, it's clear Deer Valley relied on a massive snowmaking push to open with multiple runs. Much of the resort's terrain outside of the run boundaries holds minimal snow.

However, Deer Valley won't be relying on only manmade snow for long. The forecast calls for a snowy refresh throughout Utah this weekend. This storm, should it come to fruition, will give Deer Valley a much-needed boost. Fingers crossed!

While winter remains an open question in some corners of North America (I'm sorry, Californians), it seems that Mother Nature is finally on board in Utah, slinging snow and cold temperatures.

And that, even if I don't stand to benefit, is worth celebrating. Game on, Utah folks! Just save some for the rest of us.
