Florida realtor discovers creepy iron door leading to basement-like room

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WFLA) — A room in a Central Florida home caused stomachs to turn after a bizarre and creepy discovery by a real estate agent.

Jessica Law, a realtor in Gainesville, was walking through a home when she approached a door in a back bedroom that she believed would lead to a closet.

However, when she opened the door, she was shocked to find an iron door with a swinging latch leading down to an all-concrete basement-like room via a narrow, steep staircase.

Law said that the underground room was equipped with electricity, water, and a dehumidifier and that the space seemed to be set up to house living things.

“Would you guys wanna hang out in this room?” she asked in the video posted to Instagram, originally taken from TikTok. “What do you think this room was used for?”

As the video circulated online, many called out how strange the room was, as basements aren’t a standard addition to homes in Florida.

“Lord have mercy no, run fast, save yourself,” one Instagram user commented.

“Nope bye,” another added.

Law added that the home was built in 1958, but believes this section of the home was built after the original construction.
