Flight Attendant Reveals What Your Travel Shoes Say About Your Personality

Flight attendant and avid TikToker Cheryl Killough recently posted a series of videos informing travelers what their shoes say about their personality.

In the first clip, which was posted last month and has already accrued 1 million views, Killough first offers up a pair of white New Balance sneakers and notes: “This guy has probably not flown in eight years, but is gonna be the sweetest man I’ve ever met in my life.”

But not every pair of shoes sets passengers off on the right foot, according to Killough. Displaying a pair of men’s slip-on boat shoes, the five-year flight attendant asserts: “I know exactly who you voted for, and there’s a huge chance you already chugged two to three beers in the airport.”

Similarly, Killough designates people who wear Crocs in the category of passengers who “did not shower before your flight,” adding that “your sweatpants probably have one stain on them.” Ditto to those who show up for their flight wearing furry ladies slide sandals, as Killough simply wishes, “I hope we’re having a good day today.”

In a follow-up video, Killough was slightly more generous with her appraisals. As for those who wear Keens-style fishermen sandals, the flight attendant jokes that this person is “the epitome of hardcore,” and someone “who will line you up with her six kids and chew you out the same way she does each of them ... she is not afraid.”

She says Commes des Garcons Converse are worn mostly by men “who love to use daddy’s Amex card” and are “definitely going somewhere to or from L.A.”

Slip-on sneakers of the Skechers variety typically belong to “someone’s Gigi,” Killough claims, “and she is gonna be the sweetest woman I’ve ever met in my life.” The same goes for a fashionable slip-on clog. Killough says those are evenly split between young hipsters in thrifted outfits and “pleasantly plump Midwestern” women who, likewise, are certain to be “the sweetest woman I’ve ever met.”

Unfortunately, for those who love Crocs and Crocs-adjacent shoes, Killough once again comes down hard in her second video. Over a picture of plain black Crocs imitators, Killough quips: “The official shoes of Disney adults.”

And for those wishing to remain enigmatic, Killough has one shoewear recommendation: black and white Nike sneakers. “For those who want to remain mysterious,” the flight attendant says that these are the shoes you want to wear. "These are positively neutral ground.”
