'Fairhaven Hall is full': Antique and craft sale Saturday at Richland County Fairgrounds

An antiques and crafts sale Saturday at the Richland County Fairgrounds will raise money for fairgrounds repairs.

The sale will feature items of all types, both decorative and functional, according to Kathi Cutlip-Mills, a longtime fair volunteer who organizes the sale.

"We actually have over 70 vendors," Cutlip-Mills said. "Fairhaven Hall is full."

The event runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Richland County Fairgrounds.

Most of the vendors will be in Fairhaven Hall, but some have chosen to display their wares outside.

Admission and parking are free. Concessions will be available.

"The cafeteria will be open," Cutlip-Mills said. "People can come in for a late breakfast, or they can get their lunch there."

Vendors will display crafts, antiques and shabby chic items

Guests will find an array of items for sale Saturday.

"We have some beautiful wood creations," Cutlip-Mills said. "And we have, of course, your normal crocheted items and your wreaths... we have a lot of handcrafted jewelry, including a lady that makes jewelry out of the silver spoons."

Vendors will display many lawn and garden decorations made of iron, wood and ceramics.

"We have a gal bringing succulents this year," Cutlip-Mills said. "She has some in seashells and then others in planters that she's going to have."

There will be products that visitors can purchase to use for baking, cleaning and personal hygiene.

"We have a Tupperware dealer and a Pampered Chef dealer," Cutlip-Mills said. "And there's an Avon person."

There will also be numerous antiques and tasty treats available for purchase.

"People need to come out and see exactly what is there," Cutlip-Mills said. "They could do early Christmas shopping, or birthday shopping."

'It goes to the renovation that's taking place'

This is the second year that Cutlip-Mills has helped organize the sale.

Last year, the event raised more than $2,000 that was used to repair the ceiling inside the Arts & Crafts building at the Richland County Fairgrounds.

"We were able to acquire money through the county to put new roofs on some of the buildings, because they had leaked," Cutlip-Mills said. "Now we're having to replace ceiling tiles and, you know, do some of that other work."

This year's fundraiser has already raised more than $3,000 from registered vendors.

"This time, the money will probably go towards stuff that's going to be done in the Fairhaven Hall and in the Youth Hall," Cutlip-Mills said. "It goes to the renovation that's taking place in the buildings."
