Venezuelan food truck feeding Evansville

Arepasville is a new Venezuelan food truck in Evansville. Arepas are thick, fluffy white cornmeal cakes split and filled with the diner's choice of meat, fresh veggies, grated cheese and a creamy green herb sauce.

Also on the menu are patacones, which are sandwiches with meat, veggies, cheese and sauces made on large fried slices of plantain bananas. Empanadas, tequenos (cheese sticks wrapped in dough) and desserts are also offered. Watch the Facebook page or call 812-217-9510 for more information.

Bad Randy's Hot Chicken & BBQ Lounge to open

Bad Randy's Hot Chicken & BBQ Lounge, Chef Jeremiah Galey's new concept on West Franklin Street, will softly open to the public on Wednesday, May 15. Some of Galey's favorites from Amy's on Franklin will remain on the menu, including the Brisket chili, Brabant fries, and French onion soup.

The focus will be on authentic Nashville-style hot chicken, which will be available in quarters or halves, tenders, or as a sandwich, in eight heat levels from "Southern" through "hot," "Call the Ambulance," and "We'll Name The Seat You Die In After You." Steaks, sandwiches and tacos will also be offered.

Whiskey Maturation Class

The Beverage Barn on Barrett Boulevard in Henderson will offer a Whiskey Maturation Class on Saturday, May 18, from 4-7 p.m. Featured whiskeys will be Hardins Creek 17 year, Knob Creek 12 year, Knob Creek 9 year, Jim Beam Black Label and Jim Beam White Label. Dive Barge open for the season

The Dive Barge is open for the season on the river next to the Marina Pointe restaurant & nightclub. This year, the floating bar and grill has added a kids' section. Stop for an adult beverage or casual meal of wings, a burger or other sandwich or tacos while enjoying the sun and river breezes.

The Dive Barge is at 1801 Waterworks Road.

Evansville Food Truck Festival

The 7th Annual Evansville Food Truck Festival will happen on Sunday, May 26, from 1-8 p.m. at Bosse Field. Over 30 food trucks and vendors will be on hand to serve diners $5 sampling-sized specialties in addition to their normal full menus.

Craft beer and wine will be available for purchase. Look for games and kids' activities, a cornhole tournament, free parking and more. Advance purchase tickets start at $8.95 and include a ticket to a future Evansville Otters baseball game.

Friday After 5 in Owensboro

Friday After 5, Owensboro's weekly downtown gathering of food trucks, live music, a kid-friendly street fair and much more, begins on Friday, May 17, from 5-11:30 p.m., and will run through Aug. 2. Each week features various musical artists. Friday After 5 takes place along the Owensboro riverfront, at Smothers Park and on surrounding streets.

Taste of Haiti Flag Day Celebration

The Haitian Center of Evansville will host a Haitian Flag Day Celebration on Saturday, May 18, at the Eykamp Scout Center. The event is free and open to the whole community to celebrate and learn about Haitian culture. Sample Haitian food, listen to music from the DJ's, browse vendor booths and much more. Mutts at Myriad

The Myriad Brewing Company Taproom in Newburgh will host the Warrick Humane Society for Mutts at Myriad fundraiser on Sunday, May 19, from noon-3 p.m. Stop by for burgers, hot dogs, doggie painting, pup cups and barkuterie boards for your doggo, doggie paintings and much more. Proceeds support Warrick Humane Society.

Humane Society Benefit Dinner

The Vanderburgh Humane Society's Going, Going, Gone to the Dogs benefit dinner and auction will take place on Saturday, May 18, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Old National Events Plaza. The evening includes a preview cocktail party with hot hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine, dinner and a live auction. Tickets start at $100 per person.
