The effects of summer tourism on the Chippewa Valley

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Looking ahead to the Summer in the Chippewa Valley. Various events and music festivals. Will garner a large economic impact for the area. With music festivals like Country Fest, Country Jam, Reverb and Rockfest, and events like the Northern Wisconsin State Fair, there are plenty of opportunities for tourists to come visit the area.

Now staff with visit Eau Claire say Country Fest and Country Jam each have an estimated $15 million impact on the region. And for the Northern Wisconsin State Fair, the Executive Director says Fair Week brings in around $12 million to Chippewa Falls alone.

So, while many people are drawn to these specific events, the economic impact goes further and that’s something visit Eau Claire staff say is important. The Interim Executive Director of Visit Eau Claire, Kenzi Havlicek, says, “Eau Claire tourism is extremely important for the economic impact of our region, and it’s just going to continue to grow because people that visit here may come and live here and stay here or invite friends and family to come.”

Country Fest is the first main event of the Summer. It’s June 26th through the 29th. Country Jam is scheduled for July 18th to July 20th. The Northern Wisconsin State Fair will be held July 10th to the 14th.
