"E Bonk" – Pro Shows Off The Trick Capability Of His Electric Bike

The claim that electric mountain bikes are too heavy and clunky to be any good at freeride has been a persistent one, but at this point, it surely has been put to bed.

Watch as David MacMillan hops onto a narrow log before getting stylish hopping off.

MacMillan looked perfectly at home doing what he called an “e bonk” stunt when he rode along a log and did a front wheel tap before getting off. It was incredibly smooth!

David is no stranger to getting pinned on an e-bike. Read about his ability to lay his e-bike over in the turns below.

One advantage David has for e-bike stunting is that he rides a light e-bike. Unlike the 55-pound monsters that full-powered e-bikes are, the Specialized Turbo Levo is a lighter, less powerful e-bike meant to provide only a bit of assistance.

MacMillan is one of many pros who has begun to ride electric bikes a ton. Bike brands are trying to market their bikes as maneuverable to try and convince E-MTB skeptics to make the leap. As far as maneuverability goes, I would say it is working.
