Pro Destroys Corner On E-bike

Day after day, riders put to bed the myth that electric mountain bikes are not maneuverable due to their weight.

Watch David MacMillan’s satisfying “shralp” of a berm on his e-bike.

In this video, McMillan utterly destroys a berm. The controlled slide into a berm where riders' tires make that satisfying noise is known as a shralp. Given how hard David hits the turn, it might appear at first glance that he is riding an acoustic bike, but in fact, he is just that playful on an eeb.

In the interest of fairness about this e-bike shralp, the Turbo Levo SL is a lighter e-bike. It is a model designed to be lighter and ride more like an acoustic bike on the descents, a kind of midpoint between acoustic bikes and heavy electric bikes. Unfortunately, this means it comes without the full power of a normal e-bike.

Mid-weight options like Specialized’s SL range have become more popular across the bike industry in recent years among those who only want a bit of assistance but don't need the full hog.

David McMillan is an Australian rider and the founder of the Vanzacs. Derived from the Australia and New Zealand Army Corps the Vanzacs began as a group of riders from Australia and New Zealand, broke from traveling halfway around the world, who pooled their money to drive in dingy vans between World Cup races in together. From that, a crew of riders was born. You can read more about the Vanzacs here.

McMillan will also compete in the inaugural Red Bull Hardline Tasmania.
