Dylan Dreyer counts herself lucky that she didn’t suffer a serious injury while attempting a move during the Today show this week that was, for her, unusual.

The meteorologist said in a March 12 post on Instagram that she “can’t believe” she managed to stay upright while running around the Today plaza during a taping of the show. The move, which she copied from Today co-host Al Roker, involved Dreyer running around the set outside the studio to engage with the fans who gather behind bright orange Today banners every morning to demonstrate their support and love for the Today team.

In the trio of photos in Dreyer’s Instagram post, the weather correspondent appeared to run past a crowd of fans, reaching out to touch some of their hands as she dashed by. She matched her navy blue dress and white patterned coat with a tall pair of black heels.

To Dreyer’s left, Today cameraman Nathan Congleton kept his video camera trained on her to capture the fan interactions.

Dreyer, 42, credited Roker, 69, in her Instagram caption, writing that she was “taking a page” from him by “going around the horn this morning to show off our amazing crowd!!”

“Can’t believe I didn’t break a leg in 4” heels,” the mother of three wrote. She added a message of thanks to cameraman Nathan Congleton “for not breaking a leg either and keeping up!”

Viewers of the show appeared to be impressed by the feat, with several applauding her ability to stay standing and others offering her high fives in her post’s comment section.

Though some people questioned her shoe choice— “You need to wear gym shoes for that part,” one fan wrote— they seemed relieved that she “avoided disaster” and hadn’t fallen.

“You did well, Dylan, especially with the shoes you had on,” one Instagram user wrote. “I was afraid you might fall and get hurt.”

“What were you thinking,” wrote one fan. “Running in 4” heels!!! You go girl!”

Another Instagram user brought the on-set display back to Roker, writing, “I loved it so much. I’m sure Al got a kick out of it too.”
