Dragon Ball Daima, the next mainline series from the late Akira Toriyama, will air on Japan’s Fuji TV network this fall. This will mark the first time in over six years that a Dragon Ball series will play on TV since the final episode of Dragon Ball Super, which aired in March 2018.

The show was previously set to stream exclusively on online platforms, but it is now confirmed to be a TV anime. This makes the likelihood of a simultaneous international release trend upward. Toei Animation has confirmed that the show will be released worldwide, but it remains to be seen where viewers will be able to watch it outside of Japan. Dragon Ball Super, the previous anime series, was simulcast on Crunchyroll and Daisuki in the US and Europe.

The news was confirmed by the official Dragon Ball social media accounts after this week's episode of the Weekly Dragon Ball News broadcast.

With Toriyama's unfortunate passing, it remains to be seen how it will affect the series. Toriyama was involved directly with the concept and creation of the show. Like the original Dragon Ball series and its sequels, DBZ and DB Super, Toriyama worked on the story and character designs for Daima.

The series is being directed by Yoshitaka Yashima and Aya Komaki, with additional character designs by Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru. The series composition and scenario work is being led by Yuko Kakihara.

Dragon Ball Daima will take the series back to its roots, with some ideas that will be familiar to Dragon Ball GT fans. The series will see Son Goku and the rest of the cast turned into kids again and must embark on a new adventure to unravel the conspiracy.
