Dolphins Surf Better than Pros at Snapper Rocks (WATCH)

Dolphins are the OG surfers, the real locals, the natural-born waveriders.

The ocean is their home; surfers are just visitors.

So, it makes sense that porpoises would innately surf better than humans – like during this recent session at Australia’s famed sand-bottomed pointbreak, Snapper Rocks.

The footage comes from January 3rd at the Gold Coast, Australia surf spot. And it’s captioned as such:

“Unexpected Twist Pros vs Dolphins at Snapper Rocks, while the pros were getting pitted behind the rock the dolphins were dropping in down the line showing off their aerial skills.”

Not sure where the “unexpected twist” is in the video, as the dolphins are doing what they’re always doing – although, perhaps with more panache and enthusiasm and disregard for the notoriously crowded Snapper lineup.

Plus, at least the dolphins are minding their own business, as opposed to other footage we’ve seen recently, like a standup paddler getting absolutely wrecked by one launching out of the water and body slamming the unsuspecting SUPer.

These dolphins are actually ripping, even taking off on waves in a better spot than the surfers, then launching straight airs (no grab because...yeah, flippers) into the flats.

Too bad…Snapper is off the WSL CT schedule for 2024.
