Dog Unknowingly Teaching Child How to Be a Guard Dog Is Hilariously Precious

It's no secret that dogs and kids have a very special bond. Dogs act as additional protective parents, watching over a child's every move. And believe it or not, dogs can also be teachers for children too.

Well, at least Alexa Schopfer's dog taught her child something. She recently posted a clip to her TikTok account @alexaschopfer that shows how her Great Dane's guard dog skills got passed onto her daughter. It's hilariously precious. Take a look!

O.M.G. This is everything we needed in life and then some. We guess it's true what they say, kids are like sponges, absorbing everything they see and hear and that's apparently no different with dogs. At least this little girl is learning good habits about protection rather than destroying the house! But the best part about this video, in our opinion, is that neither the girl nor the Great Dane knows what they're barking at. LOL!

The terms guard dog and watchdog oftentimes get interchanged. The reality is that there is quite a difference between guard dogs and watchdogs. The main characteristic of a watchdog is the dog's ability to bark loudly and oftentimes, the best watchdogs are small dog breeds like Chihuahuas, Dachshunds, and Shih Tzus.

Now, guard dogs are similar to watchdogs in the fact that they'll bark, but if needed, they'll take a step further to send an intruder away. These dogs are typically a lot bigger too. These dogs are not recommended for inexperienced dog owners as a lot of training is necessary for typical guard dog breeds. Owners need to help them distinguish between friends and foes or teach them to tolerate delivery drivers, mail carriers, guests, and neighbors. And since training isn't easy, it's advised to recruit a dog trainer who has experience and knowledge with security dogs.
