DMV Dating: State of dating in the DMV

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — If you’re single in the DMV, it’s no secret that dating is likely a challenge for you.

According to the Chamber of Commerce, D.C. and Alexandria, Va. are two of the loneliest places in the country to live. The study said it used the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey to look at the analysis of “one-person households in each city as well as the number of males and females living in one-person households.”

DMV-based relationship coach Tisia Saffold told DC News Now she coaches women across the world – helping them reach their relationship goals.

Saffold said she believes one reason there’s a challenge to date is because “there’s a wealth gap and women who are dating have the same college degrees.”

Saffold said many people traveling into D.C. for government jobs could also be making the dating scene difficult for those looking for love.

She added, “If I meet you in D.C. and you tell me you live in Silver Spring – that’s a commute. It’s a long-distance relationship at this point.”

DMV Dating, a new segment, will air each Friday on DC News Now during the 8 a.m. hour. If you have questions you’d like the relationship coach to answer, please email morning anchor Cory James at cjames@dcnewsnow.com.
