The Dish That Has Al Roker's Fans Saying He Should Open His Own Restaurant

Al Roker

Famed Today co-host Al Roker is no novice when it comes to the culinary scene. When he isn’t effortlessly delivering the latest weather updates, the 69-year-old spends his time traversing the country interviewing family-owned businesses and picking apples with his adorable granddaughter. Whether he’s whipping up gourmet meals for social media or stepping behind the counter at a local deli, one thing Roker does exceptionally well is keep us wanting more.

Before we even finished processing Al’s genius breakfast sandwich idea from a few weeks ago, the meteorologist shared even more breakfast inspo, also in the form of the humble sandwich. The meal in question was uploaded to Roker’s Instagram account, which has become one of the highlights of our daily social media scroll. “Calling these the #McRoker,” read the caption under a photo of four perfectly toasted English muffin sandwiches.

Using the hashtags “#englishmuffin #eggs #bacon #cheese” as context clues, we can confirm that the ingredients of Roker’s sandwiches include crispy bacon, eggs and cheese, creating a delectable-looking BEC sandwich. Judging by the accompanying photo, each element was given the love and attention it deserved, and that’s no easy feat when it comes to crafting such a simple dish. Amongst the obvious salivation from fans, a few made an incredibly valid ask, and we’re absolutely on board with the delicious idea.

“When is the recipe book coming out?” asked one user, while another echoed, “When are you going to do a cookbook for those of us that don’t cook?” While fans are anxiously awaiting a brunch-inspired cookbook (or just an invite to breakfast), Roker's 2003 holiday cookbook, Hassle-Free Holiday Cookbook, and 2008's Big Bad Book of Barbecue are available on Amazon right now.

Other commenters also chimed in noting that the breakfast sandwiches looked so good, Al should consider opening up his own restaurant. One follower even said that the dish looked better than the ones that McDonald's serves daily. "Definitely better than an egg McMuffin. I worked at McDonald’s, so I can say that!"

Though he's plenty busy with all that he already has on his plate, maybe one day, he'll make the dreams of fans come true and open up his own spot. Or, at the very least, give us another cookbook to recreate his delicious looking dishes at home. While we wait though, here’s a next-level biscuit recipe sure to up your breakfast game.
