DJ and record producer Diplo participated in the Malibu Triathlon for the second time over the weekend, after a bad showing in 2022 in which he was ultimately disqualified. This time he managed to finish the swim, bike, and foot race in just one hour and 25 minutes, despite not having done any legitimate training to prepare.

The 44-year-old musician, whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz, also left the drugs at home, after famously running the L.A. Marathon earlier this year while tripping on LSD. In addition to microdosing through the 26.2 miles, Diplo likewise didn't follow a training plan for that race. Yet, he impressively finished in under four hours after having only logged 14 miles beforehand.

"Ran the Malibu Triathlon, I entered the wrong age group, didn’t bring any running shorts, drank a few beers ... met The Deep," Diplo captioned an Instagram post, referring to The Boys star Chace Crawford. "Did a bunch of personal bests, was happy to help raise money for Children's Hospital L.A."

However, while the 44-year-old may not have train for his endurance races, he does try to maintain base level of fitness heading into the events.

In a new interview with Men's Health, Diplo said that even while touring, he likes to stay active through a combination of surfing, sparring with a trainer, and yoga classes. Though, he noted that he prefers to exercise with big crowds similar to that of his sold-out performances, because they make him feel "so much more powerful" than working out by himself.

"I want to challenge myself," he added, of his recent athletic accomplishments. "I want to use my body. The older I get, the more goal-setting makes me feel good. The marathon was a goal. I did that. You just try to find things you want to do, and then you do it, and you never have to do it again."
