If you know me, you know I have a sweet tooth. I’d rather eat candy, ice cream, cookies, and sugared cereals instead of savory food any day, and I’m constantly keeping an eye out for the latest dessert trends in New York City. In fact, when the very first edible cookie dough shop opened in 2017, I was there. Practically every day. Sadly, that shop has since closed, and although many imitators have popped up around the city and in supermarkets, I haven’t really found any versions that were worth buying on repeat. Until I discovered Doughy Vegan Cookie Dough. While it doesn’t taste exactly like the cookie dough from that shuttered shop, it does taste delicious, and the fact that it’s made with just a handful of all-natural ingredients (never more than seven) is a huge bonus.

What Is Doughy Vegan Cookie Dough?
Doughy Vegan Cookie Dough is a plant-based, gluten-free, grain-free edible cookie dough that is made with simple ingredients and is currently available in three flavors: a traditional Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, a super-chocolaty Brownie Batter Cookie Dough, and a rich Peanut Butter Cookie Dough. Every pint of egg- and dairy-free dough can be enjoyed raw or baked, but let’s be real: The whole point is to eat raw cookie dough, right?

Why I Love Doughy Vegan Cookie Dough
I tried all three flavors of Doughy’s cookie dough, and the Brownie Batter and Peanut Butter flavors were definitely the standouts. The Brownie Batter dough, made with cashews, chocolate chips, cacao, maple syrup, vanilla, sea salt, and baking soda, is very fudgy and rich, and it feels like I’m eating a really decadent dessert. Despite its richness, it isn’t sickening, and I’ve had to stop myself from devouring a whole pint in one sitting.
The Peanut Butter dough, made with peanuts, cashews, maple syrup, vanilla, sea salt, and baking soda, is a little more subtle. It has just the right amount of peanut butter flavor without being overwhelming or cloying, and the dough itself is a little smoother than the Brownie Batter. While I definitely enjoy the Peanut Butter dough on its own, I also like to mix it up with the Brownie Batter dough as a special treat.
Doughy’s pints cost $12.99 each for a one-time order, or $11.04 each if you subscribe for delivery every two weeks, four weeks, or six weeks. While there are currently only three flavors available, I noticed on the site that Doughy used to make a Birthday Cake Cookie Dough, which is out of stock at the moment. I’m hoping they bring it back and also expand the range to include new options like snickerdoodle, sugar cookie, and oatmeal raisin. More flavors of Doughy in the future? I’ll raise a pint to that!
