Netflix’s Damsel is getting destroyed in damning reviews.

The fantasy action movie starring Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown is currently sitting at a lowly 57% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics calling it self-serious, devoid of emotion, and thin on plot.

It’s also failing to excite other outlets, earning a smattering of one and two-star reviews. Oh well, at least Bobby Brown still has Stranger Things. Click here to see when Stranger Things season 5 releases on Netflix.

Damsel reviews

The Telegraph: “The Netflix darling isn’t the only one in distress thanks to this jaw-droppingly bad stick-it-to-the-patriarchy fantasy.”

IGN: “Plodding fantasy film falls short of its magical aims.”

The Independent: “We’re more than two decades into a post-‘Shrek’ world, and the concept of an anti-fairytale where the women can kick butt is no longer fresh – someone should have told Netflix.”

Digital Spy: “A broad-brush approach, yes, but there's nothing wrong with some basic feminism on your fun weekend watch.”

The Hollywood Reporter: “Millie Bobby Brown adds needed spark to Netflix fairy tale that subverts convention in overly familiar ways.”
