The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is upon us, and production is set to commence in January, Deadline reveals.

Due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, there was a delay in getting season five off the ground, but the gang is preparing to get back together with table reads rumored to be happening over the next couple of weeks.

Scripts were complete pre-strike, and the crew were ready to get back to it as soon as it ended. Deadline said that actor David Harbour said, "They literally called me, I think it was 10 minutes after the SAG thing on Twitter. The first AD is like, 'So, get the flight for you on Monday, right? We'll be acting in Atlanta.'"

So now the show is back on the road, when can audiences expect Stranger Things season five to hit Netflix? Let's take a look at the previous timelines to get a picture.

Season One

Shot in Atlanta, Georgia, filming for season one commenced in September 2015, wrapping in early 2016.

It then wasn't long until audiences got their hands on it as it hit the streaming service on July 15, 2016.

Season Two

Table reads for season two began in November 2016, just four months after the first season took Netflix by storm.

Filming began almost immediately in November but ran all the way through to June 2017 before landing on Netflix on October 27, 2017.

Season Three

In April 2018, production commenced in Jackson, Georgia and ran through until November 2018.

Season three then aired on Netflix on July 4, 2019.

Season Four

Filming began in February 2020 before halting in March 2020 due to the pandemic. Production resumed in September 2020, with production continuing all the way through to August/September 2021.

Season four hit Netflix on May 27, 2022, meaning the show spent eight months in post-production before airing.

Season Five

With filming set to commence in January and previous shoots running anywhere from six to eight months pre-pandemic, it could be late 2024 before they call cut on the final season.

Post-production has taken anywhere from five to nine months in previous seasons, and with this one being the final chapter, they'll likely want to get it perfect before audiences get their hands on it.

With all this in mind, it could be mid-2025 before the world gets to see the final instalment in the Stranger Things story.
