Dachshund Puppy Has Adorable Response to Seeing Himself in the Mirror for the First Time

It's probably pretty safe to say that just about everybody loves puppies. They're adorable, but the way they explore and learn about the world is so cute to watch. Rolo is a mini dachshund puppy, and he is too cute for his own good. At the end of December 2023, his mom posted a video of him seeing himself in a mirror for the first time, and his reaction is the best!

The video is less than a minute long and shows Rolo noticing a dog in the mirror in the family's home. He's not sure what to make of it at first...he thought he was the only pup in the place! He's curious about this new dog and growls at it, getting closer to investigate. Watch till the end so you can hear his tough little barks!

I've never really been interested in Dachshunds before, but after watching Rolo, I must have a mini wiener dog! He's just adorable, and I want one just like him! I also recently shared a video of him wearing socks and trying to walk in them...I can't get enough of his cuteness! I wasn't the only one smitten with Rolo. @Art.Samurai shared, "Rolo is a perfect name for this cute doggo." @Harley Smith spoke for all of us when they said, "Rolo you are adorable!" and several other commenters swooned, "I love him!"

Do Dachshunds Make Good Pets?

Now that you've met Rolo, are you like me and wanting to get a mini dach? My sister has wiener dogs, and she thinks they are the best dogs in the world, but I admit that I don't know much about them.

Just like with all breeds, there are pros and cons to them. The pros for Dachshunds include that they are known to be very loyal and affectionate with their humans. Although they are active, they are a breed that is fine with living in homes with without a whole lot of space, like apartments and condos and for families looking for an indoor pet. They are playful and fun and get along well with other pets and with children. They enjoy being active, but love snuggling up and being couch potatoes, too.

On the flip side of the coin are some cons to take into consideration before rushing out and bringing one home. Dachshunds are known to have a stubborn temperament, so training and housebreaking might be a challenge. They love to bark, so if you're looking for a quiet pet, this isn't the one. It's also worth mentioning that they do not like cats so if you have one, getting the two to get along may present another challenge. Due to their body shape, they do have some health issues which can make them expensive if you have to pay for vet care.

I only point all of this out as things to consider. It doesn't mean they're a "bad" choice or wrong for your family. Every breed has its pros and cons so make sure to do your own research before making a decision that will change your family's life, as well as your new pet's life.
