Costco Just Brought Back a Fan-Favorite Bakery Item, But Shoppers Are Furious Over These Big Changes

Costco

Costco has found themselves wading in hot water due recent changes made to their fan-favorite cinnamon rolls. If there's one thing we know for certain about Costco’s dedicated fanbase, it's that they tend to go bananas over their favorite seasonal bakery offerings. And if Costco knows what's good for them, it’s best they make as few changes as possible so as to avoid interrupting the status quo its members have come to enjoy.

Unfortunately, however, it was recently discovered by Costco Hot Finds that not only had the popular Gooey Cinnamon Rolls finally made their triumphant return this season, they also sported a few less-admired changes in tow. Much to the surprise of fans, Costco ended up changing the recipe to their beloved cinnamon treat earlier this year, and to make matters a little more dire, the price was then raised by $5.

As you can imagine, fans were a little distressed over the sudden changes to such a classic holiday staple. All year long, shoppers have been dealing with the negative effects of inflation, and it hurts that much more when it increases the price of the things you love. And although some people were able to look past the price increase, and many even applauded the taste despite the changes to the recipe, it’s hard to ignore the sheer amount of customers voicing their distaste for the unwanted changes.

“To think, last year, they were only $7.99,” one shopper woefully reminisced while another sought out the silver lining, saying, “[I] totally feel you, but I still think 2 bucks each is not too bad.” A fair point to be made, however, the same commenter finished their thought with, “That being said, I miss when they were 8 bucks.”

It's hard to tell from people's reactions to a price change when determining whether the new cinnamon roll recipe is any different from the last. When you’re referring to sweets, we all have our preferences that sometimes tend to be wildly different from others. And although we’d like to imagine that our memories are in tip-top shape, it’s not hard to imagine that having a year in between tasting something you love can play a role in its overall taste today. Maybe they got a bad batch, or maybe it’s time to learn how to make cinnamon rolls from scratch and officially flip inflation the bird once and for all.
