It’s no secret that Costco shoppers love the $1.50 hot dog combo at the food court, the giant jug of olive oil they can score for a steal, and the $5 rotisserie chicken. While those are part of the reason we shop at Costco, too, we can’t let another fan-favorite section become overshadowed. We’re talking about the Costco bakery.

We know what you’re thinking: “Don’t you only eat homemade baked goods?” And to that, we’ll say if store-bought is good enough for Ina Garten, it’s absolutely good enough for us. So give us all the cookies, pies, and cakes you can.

Costco's Tuxedo Chocolate Mousse Cake

Costco’s bakery section is ever-changing with new, seasonal products. However, there are a few tried-and-true desserts that customers are buying on repeat. One of the most popular being its Tuxedo Chocolate Mousse Cake.

“Warning! Do not buy the tuxedo cake!! Unless you're prepared to eat the whole d**n thing yourself in maybe 2 or 3 days. Because you will,” one Reddit user posted in a Costco subreddit.

The decadent bar cake starts with a rich chocolate cake layered with chocolate mousse, white chocolate and vanilla mousse, and dark chocolate ganache, and is finished with chocolate decorations. The cake is usually available year-round and will cost you about $15.99 for the roughly three-pound dessert.

However, one of the best parts about Costco’s tuxedo cake is that it frequently goes on sale—especially after a holiday. Costco tends to decorate its tuxedo cake with things like “Happy Valentine’s Day” text, spring flowers, and even red, white, and blue hearts. So, after the respective holiday, Costco discounts the cake by a few dollars. If you’re willing to endure a post-holiday rush to Costco, it’s worth a browse through the bakery aisle.

But, even if you’re not ready for a mad dash to the club store the day after a holiday, Costco customers rave about this cake any day of the week. Many of them even say the Tuxedo Chocolate Mousse Cake is their birthday cake every year.

“I usually just eat it in the car before I get to the gas pumps,” one Reddit user commented on the post.

“The best cake in the building. Not too sweet. Rich, dark chocolate. Amazing,” wrote another user on a different Reddit post about the cake.

Costco customers have yet to steer us wrong when it comes to new, tasty products. So, hand us a fork, we’re going in!
