Costco Brings Back an ‘Amazing’ Fall-Favorite Bakery Treat

The food and grocery beat gets a bit spicy come August as retailers start rolling out pumpkin-everything despite the overflowing bins of zucchini and tomatoes.

However, Labor Day has come and gone — it's time to ditch the complaints and fill your mouth and belly (and heart) with all things pumpkin. Costco shoppers are ready for it. The cult-favorite Costco Bakery just brought back the Pumpkin Streusel Muffins, one of its most coveted fall treats, and fans are flocking to their local warehouses.

Laura Lamb, the creator behind the account @costcohotfinds, spilled the spice over the weekend. If you were enjoying one last summer splash when she dropped the news, here's how the announcement went:

"Pumpkin Streusel Muffins in the Costco Bakery!!!" Lamb said. "They’re FANTASTIC!!!"

It's not too good to be true. Lamb posted a video to prove it. Because it's Costco, the muffins are giant, and customers get two packages with six Pumpkin Streusel Muffins each. You can almost taste the sweet, crumbly streusel-topped backed goods through the screen.

The Costco Bakery Pumpkin Streusel Muffins rollout is a bit later than last year's mid-August drop, so fans have been eagerly awaiting the muffin's return.

"They are so good! I look forward to these every year," wrote one.

Why the hype? If you've never sunk your teeth into Pumpkin Streusel Muffins at Costco Bakery, allow us — and fans — to explain.

What are the Costco Bakery Pumpkin Streusel Muffins?

The Pumpkin Streusel Muffins are a longstanding part of Costco Bakery's fall offerings. The crumbly mega-muffins are made with a pumpkin-spiced batter and topped with streusel and powdered sugar. They return to shelves sometime between mid-August (the soft launch of pumpkin season) and September (when things kick into high gear). In 2023, Costco Bakery's Pumpkin Streusel Muffins returned over Labor Day Weekend.

A few particulars. First, some fans are a little disappointed already.

"Ugh — my favorite. Our location didn’t have them yet as of yesterday," said one person.

"Those look delicious," wrote another, but added, "My Costco in New York didn’t have them yet. I’ll be looking."

Different warehouses may not have the Pumpkin Streusel Muffins yet. You can always call to check if yours does.

It's also unclear how much they cost. In prior years, the Pumpkin Streusel Muffins were usually $7.99 or $8.99. Recently, Lamb spotted a similar package of a dozen mixed-and-matched muffins for $9.99. Bottom line: Check with your local warehouse about particulars.

Fans are pumped about Costco's Pumpkin Streusel Muffins

Summer blues have already melted away for Costco shoppers excited for the return of the fan-favorite Pumpkin Streusel Muffins.

"These are insanely good — very glad to see this," rejoiced a fan.

"Omg these are dangerously delicious," said another.

"OHMYLANTA. I NEED THESE," wrote someone else, who is likely nearly as grateful for the invention of caps lock as they are about the return of the Pumpkin Streusel Muffins.

Ditto for the commenter who wrote, "OMG, I WANT THEM NOW!!"

"Yum," said a seemingly more low -key (but clearly still excited) Instagrammer. "I wait for these all year — so good!"
