Community service project brings two different age groups together

May 10—Students from South Lindhurst High School in Olivehurst recently painted planting boxes alongside residents of an assisted living facility in Marysville, Prestige Assisted Living Facility.

The event, which occurred on April 30, was facilitated by Blue Zones Project Yuba Sutter with the aim of fostering intergenerational connection and shared experiences. Blue Zones Project is a well-being improvement initiative that engages people in activities.

"The kids are asking lots of questions about what (the residents) were like when they were 17," South Lindhurst High School Principal David Jones said. "Their personal life experiences, what sports did they play? It's just really cool to be able to see two different age groups be able to come together — really good conversation."
