Community Calendar: Fundraiser, performances, story time

Apr. 19—Superior: A ramen bowl dinner and silent auction fundraiser for student delegates traveling to Ami-Machi, Japan in July as part of the Superior Sister City Program takes place from 5-7 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 320 N. 28th St. Ramen bowl options include noodles with choice of chicken or miso broth and can be topped with chicken, tofu, soy-marinated hard-boiled eggs, veggies, fish cakes, nori, chili oil and more. Beverage options include green tea, lemonade and water. Desert options include mochi and traditional Japanese candy. The cost is $12 for adults and $8 for kids under age 12.

Superior: The University of Wisconsin-Superior Theatre Department performs a contemporary musical, "Ride the Cyclone," at 7:30 p.m. in Manion Theater in Holden Fine and Applied Arts, 1805 Catlin Ave. Directed by Sean Naughton, the musical is a joint production of the communicating arts and music departments and offers an up-tempo, off-beat contemporary rock and pop musical. Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for seniors and students; and $5 for UWS students with a valid ID.

Superior: Superior Public Library hosts Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Children and their caregivers can listen to stories, do crafts, sing songs and more at the library. No registration is required.

Superior: The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department will present its Global Percussion Concert at 7:30 p.m. in Thorpe Langley Auditorium in Old Main, 1710 Weeks Ave. Performances include Caribbean steel band music, and drumming styles from Mali and Ghana in West Africa. Tickets are $5.
