Comedian Daniel Tosh, known for his popular stand-up performances and his hit show Tosh.0, recently started a podcast in which he interviews people in his life.

Tosh reveals that he owns a home in Alpine Meadows, CA and is an avid skier in the episode below. Listen in as he chats with P90X founder Tony Horton about the thrill of skiing, the risks of crashing, and the Palisades Tahoe name change.

Palisades Tahoe was once known as Sq*aw Valley.

The name changed occurred during the Winter '21/'22 season after public outcry reached a pinnacle over the word's derogatory connotation for a native American woman.

Tosh and Horton are neutral about the name change. Rather than taking a 'side', they are moving on and have adopted the new name without complaint.

The following interaction summarizes their sentiments best:

Tosh: "And the locals there they're just like, "Well, I'm always going to call it Sq*aw". And I'm like, well why? Why not just say, "Oh, I didn't know that."

Horton: "And now I'm learning something and I can change."

Tosh: "Sure, I don't have a problem with calling it Palisades. I like Palisades."

Horton: "Palisades is a great name."

Tosh: "Sure, yeah, but you have to turn on Sq*aw Drive..."

It was a shock to learn that Tosh is such an avid skier. I've been a fan of his for years, but I always pegged him more as a surfer/city slicker.

What really threw me for a loop is that Tosh didn't turn the Palisades Tahoe name change into a bit. I assumed he was going to dig in deep with jokes poking fun at 'woke' culture, but I wrong yet again.

Whether you "like" the Palisades Tahoe name change or not, Tosh's outlook on the 'controversy' is a healthy approach.

Palisades Tahoe, or simply referring to the resort as Palisades, has grown on me over the last few years. And, now that I live in Truckee, the name has become part of my regular vocabulary.

Anybody have a way to get ahold of Tosh or his people? I wouldn't mind taking a lap or two with him the next time he's skiing at Alpine...!
