May 22—50 Extension Homemakers

The 50 Extension Homemakers met at 1 p.m. May 15 the Extension Office. Isabelle Royse, president, called the meeting to order followed by the Homemaker's Creed and the pledge to the American flag. Anne Stagge, hostess, gave devotions by reading "Yesterday Tomorrow." For cultural arts, she showed us photographs from her travels to New Zealand and Australia and related special places of interest.

Bertha Head read the Thought of the Month, "People may hear your words, but they feel your attitude." In lieu of a song, we had a recipe for Better-Than-Almost-Anything Cake. We sang "Happy Birthday" to Helen Swango.

Nine members and one guest, Kathryn McBlain, answered roll by telling whether we like to follow or watch any of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race activities. Juanita Israel read the April secretary's report which was approved as read, and Bertha Head gave the treasurer's report.

Isabelle related that we gathered in the storage basement at Camp Higher Ground during the tornado warnings. Patti thanked us for welcoming her sister Connie at the Retreat. We had a good time and are pleased that there will be another Retreat in 2025. Isabelle, Bertha, Judy, Becky, Patti, Connie, Juanita and Anne attended.

Isabel admonished us to be sure to read the front of our newsletter. Isabelle brought a new scrapbook for us to use. Juanita related that she gave a demonstration at the Presbyterian Church quilting group. She showed them how to make things OCC prepares.

We discussed our outing for June. We will meet at 10:45 on Tuesday, June 25, at the Extension Office for a trip to the Shift Country Club in Batesville. We will plan to eat at 11:30 and go to Weberdings for a tour afterwards.

For our July meeting, we will meet at First Baptist Church since the Extension Office will be occupied during the fair.

Judy gave the Health and Safety lesson by recommending that we check the lights on our cars and clean them. She then read from an Almanac regarding honey bees. Following the Club Prayer, Juanita gave the lesson, "Staying Healthy While Traveling." Anne and Becky served refreshments of chocolate and angel food cakes, nuts, and candies. Isabelle, Judy, and Juanita received the door prizes.
