Wipeouts. Fun to watch from the comfort of our screens, not so fun when you're actually the one taking beatings underwater. And we've seen a lot of good ones lately.

Surf legend Shane Dorian air dropped head-first into the water at Backdoor not long ago. J.O.B. shared his 'deadliest wipeout ever" at Pipeline recently. And Levi McConaughey, the son of movie star Matthew McConaughey, shared a Hawaii wipeout reel last week.

In the video below, a big wave surfer from Hawaii survives a mental wipeout in Fiji.

The clip above of Maui surfer Billy Kemper charging huge Cloudbreak comes from Zoard Janko, who regularly shoots the Florence brothers.

Kemper captioned it:

"Nice warm-up at Cloudbreak today! Shook it off, went back out, and had one of the best sessions of my life. Vinaka Fiji @zoard @tavaruaislandresort"

What unfolds in the clip is quite simple. Kemper's charging a massive barreling wave at the legendary Fijian surf break. He airdrops, hits the water, and gets sucked over in the lip, only to be rag-dolled underwater for who knows how long.

Other big wave surfers were baffled and expressed it in the comments:

Nathan Florence: "That was next-level flight time, injuries are a mindset, and mayonnaise is a superfood"

Dustin Barca: "Bra! Looked so much like your brother right there @billykemper ="

Ross Clark-Jones: "Fi?k me !! Seriously braa! Glad you smashed it straight after"

Tom Carroll: "Yeeeeeew Cloudbreak turned it on today!!! She’s a beautiful thing glad your ok @billykemper"

Brian Bielmann: "That’s one of those thank God I didn’t end up in rehab for another eight months wave"

Nic von Rupp: "Heavy shit! Glad ur ok"

Ross Williams: "Nahts"

Kalani Robb: "Holy moly!"
