Captain America MCU

Captain America actor Chris Evans has said he’s not spoken to anyone at Marvel about a rumored return to the MCU as the Star Spangled Avenger.

Hollywood chatter suggests that Marvel hopes to return the MCU to its former glory by bringing back its most popular actors and the roles they established for Marvel Studios.

But Evans suggested that these are nothing more than rumours that pop up on a regular basis, and he’s had no contact with the suits at Marvel about a possible return.

“You know, I always see those reports too, and it’s news to me,” Evans told The View, as reported by The Wrap. “I think every couple months, someone says that they’re getting Downey, and Hemsworth, and Scarlet, and everyone’s coming back. No one’s spoken to me about it. And look, I would never say never, but I really - I’m very protective. It’s a very precious role to me, so it would have to be just right,” he added.

Evans' Captain America was last seen in Avengers: Endgame with the character’s story arc coming to a natural end. The Captain America shield has now been picked up by Falcon actor Anthony Mackie for the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World - although that movie has been delayed until 2025.

All of these rumors stem from the publication of a book that revealed Marvel’s internal issues, including rushed production, poor box office takings and last-minute rewrites. Compounding that are the legal troubles of actor Jonathan Majors, who’s been lined up to carry the next MCU story arc through Avengers: The Kang Dynasty movie. That role is now up in the air, with some suggesting Marvel needs to reboot - hence the talk of the original Avengers actors returning to their roles.
