Marvel has delayed a slate of upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, pushing them back months from their intended release dates of 2024 and 2025.

The highly-anticipated Deadpool 3 movie, starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, has been delayed from March 5, 2024 to July 26, 2024.

The release date for Captain America: Brave New World slips significantly from July 26 2024 to February 14, 2025. Superhero team-up title Thunderbolts is delayed from December 20, 2024 to July 25, 2025. And the reboot of Blade has been pushed back from February 14, 2025 to July 11, 2025.

The move comes following a report that suggested there was a lot of doubt and reorganisation going on with the MCU after a series of underperforming titles, trouble with actor lawsuits and rushed visual effects. Some are suggesting the MCU needs a reboot now that Disney has regained the rights to Marvel characters such as the X-Men and Fantastic Four.

This weekend sees the release of The Marvels, the latest MCU title featuring Captain Marvel, Ms Marvel and Captain Monica Rambeau, battling it out with Kree warrior Dar-Benn. Reviews have been mixed, although some critics have praised the interplay between the three main leads.

Now that the actor and writer strikes have come to an end, movies are able to continue production and juggle release dates as the movie industry gets back to work.

Deadpool 3 - unlikely to be its official title - is the most anticipated of the upcoming Marvel movies, and sees the return of Reynold’s popular violent merc team up with Jackman’s X-Man Wolverine.

Captain America: New World Order picks up where Disney’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier left off, with Anthony Mackie picking up the red, white and blue shield. Thunderbolts is an ensemble movie, with Bucky Barnes, Ghost, U.S. Agent, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, and Taskmaster teaming up.

The Blade movie will star Mahershala Ali as the vampiric antihero, and the actor comes with a seal of approval from 1990s Blade star Wesley Snipes.
