Choctaw Landing in Hochatown open for business

Apr. 25—HOCHATOWN — The Choctaw Nation's newest resort nestled in the far southeastern corner of Oklahoma exposes guests to the tribe's culture during all aspects of their getaway.

More than 20 Choctaw artists from across the reservation and the U.S. were commissioned to create original artwork for the Choctaw Landing resort in Hochatown.

The resort boasts 40 pieces of artwork in public spaces, two large exterior sculptures, with an additional 600 pieces of art located throughout guest rooms.

"Every time you come back, we want you to stay on another floor, so you get another nugget of culture," said Claire Young, public arts manager for the Choctaw Nation. "There's a different story on each wing of the hotel."

To accompany the art, the resort will feature the Art Hike App. The app will use AI and augmented reality to give guests a self-guided tour of the art located in the public spaces of the resort . Each piece of artwork is accompanied with a QR code that will give the inspiration behind the artwork and the story of the artist who created it.

The app is expected to be ready before the summer 2024 season begins.

Choctaw Landing opened its doors for a soft opening in early April and is currently accepting bookings with 100 rooms and 15 suites available for booking.

"There has been so much excitement around Choctaw Landing, and we are thrilled to be open to guests who are planning to stay at the resort and to those who are just interested in visiting our casino and mercantile," said Amy Davis, Choctaw Landing general manager.

Choctaw Landing features three conference rooms with more than 4.300 square feet of meeting space combined; a resort pool area with a full-service bar, nine cabanas, two hot tubs, three fire pits, and in-pool and pool side loungers.

The Tuklo Grill serves Southern cuisine and handcrafted cocktails in a rustic setting.

An outside amphitheater with seating for 125 guests is located right outside the hotel with a family friendly play area and three outside dining and bar options.

The casino offers 24-hour gaming with 600 slot machines, table games, and a full-service bar.

Also available at the resort is a mercantile featuring the Tuklo Deli, Starbucks coffee, camping supplies, authentic Choctaw merchandise, and an outdoor fuel station with 24 fuel pumps and electric charging stations.

The $238 million resort created more than 400 jobs for the area and is estimated to have an impact of $95 million on the region, according to the Choctaw Nation.

"We are the perfect place to get away and unwind," Davis said.

Choctaw Landing will host its official grand opening on May 23, 2024. More information about the resort can be found online at www.choctawlanding.com.
