Travis Kelce and Andy Reid; Taylor Swift

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid has nothing but support for Travis Kelce's relationship with Taylor Swift, but he's still never going to let the tight end live down a comment the pop superstar made when they first started dating.

The 65-year-old head coach joked about the moment during his recent appearance on Tom Brady and Jim Gray's SiriusXM podcast, Let’s Go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gary, repeating statements he's previously made about his connection to Swift before she started dating the record-breaking NFL star, with a little more context this time.

"Yeah, listen, she’s been great. I knew her before, from Philadelphia," Reid shared, explaining that his relationship with the Swift family dates back decades to when he was head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, a position he held from 1999 to 2012. "Her dad [Scott Swift] played at [University of] Delaware and was a big football fan and good guy," Reid continued, "So I had met him there, and her."

"So that was the last thing Trav wanted to hear, that I knew her before him,” Reid joked.

"She told him, ‘I know your coach,'” Reid added before recalling Kelce's reaction. “And he went, ‘Oh, God, come on!’”

Teasing aside, Reid couldn't be happier for Kelce. He even commended the way the two have navigated the intense media coverage–both inside the stadium and off the field.

"And there has been no distraction that way at all, and Trav’s handled it right, she’s handled it right, and we just move forward," he shared. "So it hasn’t been a problem at all."

Reid's latest statements of support reinforce the notion that he's a huge fan of the celebrity couple. During a press conference in Nov. 2023, he commended the tight end's recent plays, before acknowledging that the 12-time Grammy winner may really be his good luck charm.

"Kelce is getting better with time," Reid said at the time. "Taylor can stay around all she wants."

He later expounded on his remarks, telling local Kansas City reporter Tod Palmer, "I’m just glad he’s found somebody he likes and she’s found somebody she likes. That’s a good thing."
