Ed Kelce deftly navigated an uncomfortable question about a hypothetical prenup agreement that could materialize if his son, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, one day marries pop star Taylor Swift.

The father—known affectionately among NFL fans as “Papa Kelce”—faced the question during a conversation on Audacy’s Sports Radio 92.3 The Fan earlier this week. Ed was asked if it was “weird” for him to think that Travis might be the person asked to sign a prenup if the couple gets engaged, a question that alluded to reports of Swift becoming a billionaire last year.

Ed didn’t directly address the question, choosing instead to share how he thinks Swift approaches her career.

“I don’t know that Taylor is out there trying to make money, trying to build a huge empire,” he said. “I think she’s out there following her passion, doing what she knows and what she enjoys, and people are just throwing money at her.”

Swift entered the billionaire’s club late last year amid the success of her Eras Tour and subsequent concert film. A Bloomberg report estimated her net worth to be about $1.1 billion.

Travis’ net worth as of last fall was estimated to be about $40 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Travis and Swift went public with their relationship last fall as Swift began attending Chiefs games. Fans have seen her cheering for Travis alongside Ed and other members of the Kelce family at several games this NFL season.

Despite the excitement surrounding their relationship, a source close to the couple said earlier this month that they have “no plans” to get engaged this summer, despite reports to the contrary.

“Things between them are going amazing, but they haven’t even been together for a year yet and still have so much to learn about each other,” the unnamed source told Us Weekly.
