Cherry blossoms at Brooklyn Botanic Garden have hit peak bloom

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — Spring has sprung at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden this week.

The garden’s lush cherry blossoms have reached peak bloom, which will last for a limited time before the ground is covered in pink petals.

Shauna Moore, the director of horticulture at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, expects the blooms to last “another week or so,” the garden shared on Monday.

Over 26 species and cultivars are featured in the garden’s flowering cherry collection. The Okame trees, which usually have the first flowers of the spring, can be found in the Cherry Cultivars Area, near Cherry Esplanade.

The Brooklyn Botanic Carden is open Tuesday through Sunday starting at 8 a.m., according to their site. Guests are urged not to touch any parts of the plants, walk in plant beds, or pick flowers and other plants.
