Beauty titan Charlotte Tilbury is expanding her empire with a rainbow of fragrances that promise to transform your mood.

Charlotte Tilbury’s new fragrances give all the feels.

The celebrity makeup artist, who aims to empower people through beauty, is introducing a collection of six science-backed, mood-boosting scents. The line will launch on her app on April 30 and the Charlotte Tilbury website on May 2.

“Innovation is the heart of everything that I do, and I wanted to bottle emotions,” says an exuberant Tilbury, whose famous clients include Salma Hayek, Sofía Vergara and her good friend Kate Moss. “Smell helps access positive memories, and fragrance has the power to change and transport. You don’t have to smell good, you can feel good,” adds the flame-haired entrepreneur, Zooming with Alexa from London.

To develop the impactful blends, Tilbury worked with scientists and a trio of International Flavors and Fragrances master perfumers, who selected ingredients based on research from IFF Scentcube. The proprietary tool, 40 years in the making, measures the conscious and unconscious effects of olfactive molecules on tens of thousands of people around the world.

Tilbury’s line-up consists of “Magic Energy” (a dynamizing citrus-woody scent); “Love Frequency” (a romance-enhancing floral-woody blend); “Joyphoria” (a warm-floral happy helper); “Calm Bliss” (a soothing aquatic floral); “More Sex” (a seduction-forward musk leather); and “Cosmic Power” (an empowering spicy amber).

The fragrances are priced at $150 for each 100 ml bottle, and $25 for a 10 ml travel size. There’s also a discovery set of six 1.5 ml vials for $30. The bottle colors match the emotions each blend is meant to evoke.

Tilbury, a maximalist who has been known to sleep in her makeup, spritzes her new creations from dawn until dusk. As with her cult Pillow Talk nude lipstick (favored by Britney Spears and Meghan Markle) and iconic Charlotte’s Magic Cream moisturizer, she reports tons of compliments.

“Friends of mine are like, ‘You just smell so unbelievably good. What is that?’ I’ve had people run after me in the street and a taxi driver asked what I was wearing.”

“The reaction is big!” says Tilbury, who was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to the beauty and cosmetics industry. “They’re very powerful and they have amazing scent trails.”

Sometimes she uses all six. “If I have an exhausting day, I spray them all on. They layer so beautifully, and they’re amazing on their own.”

“They’re my invisible superpowers,” she says. “They work.”
